Frequently Asked Questions

What is CT Flex?

CT Flex is a reservation based, curb-to-curb, shared-ride service provided by CT which is designed to meet mobility needs in the more rural communities of Carbon County in the most efficient way.  CT Flex service allows passengers to travel within a defined area. Travel outside the CT Flex service area can be accomplished using CT Shared Ride service, or by connecting with CT Bus service in Jim Thorpe.

Who is eligible to ride CT Flex?

CT Flex is open to the general public – you do not need to meet any eligibility requirements.  You will need to provide your name, home address and a phone number to make a reservation for the service.  This information will be used to contact you with any necessary information about your trip.

Will I be picked up by a bus for my CT Flex trip?

CT Flex is operated using CT Shared Ride vehicles. These are small transit vehicles which accommodate approximately 16 passengers. CT Flex is a shared ride service, so there will be other passengers on the vehicle. Look for the CT vehicle to arrive at your scheduled pick up point. Please note that CT vehicles are not equipped with bike racks. Child car seat laws apply to CT vehicles – Riders must supply their own car seat when needed. CT vehicles will arrive within a pick up window of + or – 15 minutes of the pick-up time. Riders should be ready for pick-up at any time within that window. When a CT vehicle arrives within the window, the driver will wait for the rider for 5 minutes, and will depart if the rider is not boarded within the 5 minute period.

How do I catch the CT Flex vehicle?

CT Flex is a “curb to curb” service.  That is, when being picked up for a CT Flex trip, the passenger must be waiting for the vehicle outside of the pick-up address in plain sight of the driver, but in a safe location for the passenger.  CT drivers cannot assist passengers to access the vehicle, with the exception of wheelchair lifts.

What happens if I am not waiting for the CT Flex vehicle in front of the pick-up address?

The CT Flex vehicle will not wait for passengers if they are not waiting outside at the pick-up address.  If the passenger is not waiting outside, it will be considered a “no-show”. CT has a no-show policy for its reservation based services which dictates sanctions for repeat violators of the no-show policy.

How do I make a reservation?

Riders must call 888-253-8333 to make a reservation for their trip at least one day prior to the desired time of travel and no more than 14 days in advance.  The CT reservation agent will need to know the address where you will be traveling from and the address to where you will be traveling within the Flex Area.  If you are planning to transfer from or to a CT Bus within the Flex Area, please make the agent aware of that.  Reservation agents are available to take your call Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM.

How can I cancel my reservation?

Reservations can be cancelled up to two (2) hours prior to the scheduled pick up by calling 888-253-8333.

Can I just board the CT vehicle without a reservation?

CT Flex is a reservation based service.  All passengers must have a reservation for their trip.  Reservations must be made at least one day prior to the desired time of travel and no more than 14 days in advance by calling 888-253-8333.

If I use CT Flex on a regular basis, do I have to make a reservation every time?

Passengers making regular trips can arrange for a standing reservation, which means that the passenger can make their reservation just one time and their trip will be provided unless the passenger notifies CT that they will not be making their trip on a given day.

If a passenger does not notify CT that they will not be making their reserved trip within two hours of the scheduled pick up time, it will be considered a “no-show”.  CT has a no-show policy for its reservations based services which dictates sanctions for repeat violators of the no-show policy.
